Nepal: Design a plan at pilot site level to get it ES certified

Resource Manager Identification

Federation of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN), NTNC, Himalayan Bio-Trade Limited (HBTL), individuals knowledgeable about the FSC certification process were consulted in August to identify appropriate resource managers. FECOFUN, which is currently a resource manager of FSC certified community forests in Nepal, is interested to continue its role on ES certification as well but in a different approach. FECOFUN is willing to establish a separate resource center that will be in charge of ES trading and will hold resource manager responsibility. Likewise, meetings with the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) were held in August and September to identify potential sites for ecotourism in Gauriskhankar Conservation Area (GCA). During these meetings, the participants agreed that the Rolwaling trekking route could be a potential site for ecotourism certification. Nevertheless, the primary ES in both sites will be bundled with other ES, such as hydrological services, carbon, NTFPs.
