Nepal: Training and capacity building for certification for the members of the community forest user groups, government/NGOs/ private forest holders

An interaction meeting was organized in Charikot of Dolakha district on the 31st of May to discuss existing practices of drinking water services. Three prospective pilot sites, namely Kirantichhap Drinking Water User’s Group, Hoksila Drinking Water User’s Group and Singati Market Drinking Water User’s Group, attended the program. ES buyers (Drinking water user’s committee) and providers (members of CFUG) shared their existing practices while receiving water from Community Forest (CF). It was noticed from these discussions that the participants have an inadequate knowledge on PES and unclear on their role and responsibilities to establish PES. During the meeting the participants suggested an awareness raising programs on PES. FECOFUN, which is one of the partner organizations in ForCES, facilitated the meeting.
