Visit drinking water source to identify conservation activities

ForCES team and CFUG chairperson visited four different drinking watersources to document ongoing community activities to conserve their water source. This visit aimed to understand what measures were being undertaken to conserve water source and discuss with users how it could be better conserved. During the discussion, the community forest users suggested various activitiesfor water source conservation including: (i) to renovate existing drinking water intake tank to check and reduce leakages (ii); to sow grass seeds or plant seedling that help to control erosion and maintain water flow; (iii) to plant trees, such as Juglans regia (Walnut) for income generation; and (iv) to maintain bigger catchment by managing small catchments through an integrated approach.
