IUCN World Conservation Congress

South Korea
6-15 September

A delegation of FSC International will take part in the IUCN World Conservation Congress, 6-15 September in South Korea. AS IUCN Member, FSC will participate in the decision-making on the 2013-2016 IUCN Programme, the mandates of IUCN Commissions and the voting for new leadership. However, the discussions on (part of) the 173 motions from either the IUCN Council or from (in most cases) individual members will take most of the time, already from now. These motions are efforts to get membership endorsement of specific guidance to IUCN on its priority setting, specific activities, political positioning, as well as to call upon IUCN members, in particular the governmental ones, to take certain positions or actions. FSC’s involvement will aim at promoting multi-stakeholder based forest certification as positive tool/contribution in relevant motions.

FSC will also have a stand and take part in one or more side events organised by others.
